Aeol is a collaboration between the two musicians Jan Philipp and Jannis Carbotta from Cologne, Germany.

The EP was produced within one day in April 2020 and explores the sound of electric wind organs in combination with synthesizer, vibraphone, Rhodes, singing bowls, cymbals, bass drum and various percussion instruments. A mixture of free improvisation and for each track differently fixed instrumentation, reveals itself in these recordings as a musical exchange during a time of unusual and haunting standstill. All pieces were then subsequently played over different loudspeakers in a church and recorded there.

The six tracks put a keen emphasis on hazey drone textures, grainy ambience and its spatial sensitivity. The finely selected mixture of the analogue and digital merge into a cloud of other-worldly sound sculptures. Airy layers of sonic material transmit deep and rich emotions of sometimes perception-altering mind states, still with a sense of beautiful and blissful nostalgia.

  All track titles derive from various types of winds.
